FAVES AND DISCOVERIES 2023 // PART III.
Es ist Tradition, dass das neue Jahr auf dem Blog mit meinen liebsten Büchern, Filmen und Serien und Musikentdeckungen aus dem vergangenen Jahr losgeht. Auch wenn 2024 ein paar Änderungen auf dem Blog passieren, wird der popkulturelle Jahresrückblick bestehen bleiben, keine Sorge!
2023 war für mich das Jahr der Nostalgie, der großen Gefühle und, überraschender Weise, auch guter Sachliteratur. Bei meiner Lieblingsmusik im vergangenen Jahr, spielte vor allem das Nostalgiegefühl eine sehr große Rolle. Dazu kommen wir jetzt.

Even though there will be some changes on the blog in 2024, I’ve decided to keep up this pop cultural trip down memory lane, so don’t worry, some things will always stay the same!
2023 for me was the year of nostalgia, the really big feelings, and surprisingly enough, really good non-fiction. When it comes to my favourite music of the past year, me feeling nostalgic probably had a lot to do with it. So let’s talk about that.

I. My Mind Wanders And Sometimes Leaves Completely – Lola Young
Lola Young ist glaube ich meine größte musikalische Neuentdeckung aus 2023. Sie wurde mir zufällig auf Instagram vorgeschlagen und ich finde ihre Texte, ihre Stimmfarbe, die Videos und sie als Person richtig toll. Von ihrem Album My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely habe ich besonders gern What is it About Me, Money, und Annabel’s House gehört. Ich finde Lola Young hat eine ziemliche Bandbreite an Gefühlen, von herzzerreißend bis rotzig und das gefällt mir echt sehr! Ich bin super gespannt auf alles, was da in Zukunft noch so von ihr kommt…
Lola Young is probably my biggest new music discovery of 2023. She was suggested to me on Instagram one day and I really love her lyrics, her vocal range and sound, the videos and her as a person. My favourite songs from her album My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely are probably What is it About Me, Money, and Annabel’s House. I feel like Lola Young covers a wide range of emotions in her music, from heartbreaking to cocky, which I really enjoy! I’m very excited to see what we can expect from her in the future…
II. FEVER RAY CONCERT IN OSLO
Fever Ray ist eine meiner All-time-favourite Bands. Und als ich letztes Jahr im März eine Woche in Oslo war, habe ich mir den großen, langjährigen Traum erfüllt, Fever Ray live zu sehen. Es war ein ganz eigentümliches und wunderbares Konzert. Mein Lieblingssong vom allersten Album wurde sogar gespielt und die Nostalgie war auf jeden Fall da; aaach, ich könnte vor Freude heulen, wenn ich nur daran denke. Ein unvergessliches Konzerterlebnis und definitiv eines meiner Highlights des Jahres 2023!
Fever Ray is one of my favourite bands of all time. And last year in March, while I was in Oslo for a week, I got to literally live my dream and see them perform live for the first time. It was a very strange (in the best way!) and wonderful concert. My favourite song from their first album was performed and nostalgia hit hard… oh man, I could cry happy tears just thinking about it now. A truly unforgettable concert experience and definitely one of my highlights of 2023, period!
III. ONE PIECE LOFI HIPHOP MIX (YOUTUBE)
Das klingt vielleicht echt bescheuert, aber One Piece hat mich letztes Jahr einfach sehr intensiv begleitet. Ich habe mit einer Freundin zusammen diesen Lofi HipHop Mix entdeckt und höre ihn seither ständig – beim Lernen, Arbeiten, beim Brunch, beim Einkaufen… Es ist einfach eine sehr gute Playlist für alle Fans und ein Soundtrack für alle Lebenslagen.
This might sound ridiculous, but One Piece was a constant companion for the most part of last year. My friend and I discovered this Lofi HipHop Mix on Youtune and I listened to it all the time (and still do) – while studying, working, brunching with friends, when going shopping… it’s the perfect playlist for all the fans and a good soundtrack for everyday life.
IV. 2raumwohnung CONCERT IN LEIPZIG
An dieser Stelle ein großes Shoutout and meinen Kumpel Lai Raw, der mich ganz spontan zu diesem Konzert gebracht hat. Er ist der Vorband-DJ von 2raumwohnung, einer Band mit der ich praktisch aufgewachsen bin, weil meine Eltern sie früher viel gehört haben. Ist schon verrückt, wie klein die Welt manchmal ist. In diesem Fall war es ein großer Schritt für mich, weil ich ganz allein auf das Konzert gegangen bin (am Ende aber auch noch Menschen getroffen habe die ich kannte). Ich hatte aber eine ganz wunderbare Zeit und habe die Songs meiner Kindheit mitgesungen, getanzt und die es total genossen. Inga Humpe ist mein neues Idol, weil sie einfach fast 70 immer noch richtig Stimmung macht und ne tolle Show hingelegt hat, die ich sobald nicht vergessen werde. Wie schön, dass ich an meine Kindheitserinnerungen so wunderbar anknüpfen konnte!
Okay, now a shoutout is in order, because I only got to go to this concert because of my freind Lai Raw. He’s the opening DJ for 2raumwohnung, a band that I basically grew up on, since my parents listened to them a lot when I was little. The world is a village, I’m telling you guys. In this case, it was also a big step for me, because I went to the concert by myself (but did meet people I knew and could tag along with). I had a wonderful time and sang along to the soundtrack of my childhood, danced, and absolutely enjoyed myself. Inga Humpe is my idol, because she’s almost 70 and still put on an amazing show that I won’t forget anytime soon. How wonderful that I got to relive beautiful childhood memories at this amazing concert!
